About Us
The Milwaukee Partnership Academy (MPA) is a coalition of education, labor,
business, government, university, foundations and community groups. The MPA
includes ten core members (the Executive Partners)
and a variety of other partner organizations.
Our Mission
The purpose of the Milwaukee Partnership Academy (MPA) is to enhance the quality
of teaching and learning in the Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS). The broad
initiative of the MPA is to assure that every child in the Milwaukee Public
Schools is performing at or above grade level in reading, writing, and mathematics
through shared responsibility for student success. The strategy for the initiative
is balanced literacy and mathematics, a comprehensive literacy program that
provides skills development across all curricular areas and focuses on reading,
writing, listening, speaking, deep thinking, and research skills.
Primary Goals
1. Improve Teacher and Principal Quality
2. Increase Student Achievement At All Educational Levels
3. Address Systemic Issues Across Educational Institutions
The work of the Milwaukee Partnership Academy (MPA) is carried out through an Executive Director, working under the direction of the Executive Partners. Details of MPA initiatives are worked on through the Implementation Team and Work Groups.
Implementation Team
The Implementation Team is the think tank and problem-solving
group of the MPA. It develops, reviews and modifies strategies for implementation
of the MPA mission and goals, and it coordinates and aligns the efforts of
the work groups. The Implementation Team is comprised of appointed members
from MPS, UWM, MATC, MTEA, Private Colleges/Universities, Community Groups
and Parents.
