Teacher & Principal Quality
The Milwaukee Partnership Academy is committed to long-term engagement across institutions in the community as the central means of addressing an enduring challenge: the education of its children and youth. In response to that challenge, and given the significant influence of teacher and principal quality on student learning, this workgroup is devoted to developing ways of improving the quality and supporting the professional development of MPS teachers and principals. Such efforts involve:
Strengthening Learning Teams at every school in order to create and sustain inquiry learning communities within schools where professionals thrive, learn, and grow in the quality of their teaching as a means of improving student learning.
Developing a comprehensive new teacher induction program in order to retain the best and brightest urban teachers who can effectively contribute to closing the achievement gaps in the MPS' district.
Developing and implementing the Characteristics of a High Performing Urban Classroom, a comprehensive effort to eliminate the disparities in student achievement through the creation of positive, challenging, and enriching learning environments for students from diverse backgrounds.
Aligning professional development opportunities.
